Can I attend if I have never mended or sewn?
Yes! We love beginners, and we have teachers to help you with your first mend, from threading a needle to full patch
What do I need to bring?
Just bring holey clothes. We have generous supply tables, but you are welcome to bring your own threads, yarns, scraps, trimmings etc to use and/or to share
What are workshop tables?
We have a dozen mendspirational teachers leading workshops, group experiences, or themed mends. Expect to learn as you bond with your tablemates
What is included?
All sailors get mending supplies, instruction, entertainment, a drink, food, cake, and group energy. Higher ticket tiers get their first choice of workshops hosted by top artists and experts. Admiral ticketholders also get copies of Kate’s and Hekima’s books, signed
Can I join a workshop if I have a Sailor ticket?
Everyone may join a workshop wherever there is room at a table. Admiral and Captain ticket holders get guaranteed seats, and first choice of tables (Admirals for both sessions, Captains for the first). Skippers also get guaranteed seats.
Is there a dress code?
Why YES. Glad you asked. Please wear white or nauticalia. Dressing the part is optional, but obviously more fun. And there’s a prize for best dressed. See mood board on the About page
Why is there a donation option?
It is for Hekima’s nonprofit Black Girls Sew. Ticket sales do not cover the cost of this epic event
Where do I get tickets?
Are tickets refundable?
Yes, up to seven days before we sail
Is it worth coming all this way?
Yes
